Boston Public Library Denying Sick Leave
Boston Public Librarian and Professional Staff Association (PSA) MLSA 4298 member Eve has been with the Boston Public Library for 12 years and is deeply committed to her work. In 2019, Eve was diagnosed with breast cancer. Today, her diagnosis is stage 4 metastatic breast cancer; a terminal diagnosis. Since her diagnosis, Eve has had to rely on the hours donated by our union to the Extended Sick Leave Fund (or, "sick bank") after she's used all of her own leave. She needs these hours to be able to attend doctor's appointments and pursue treatment without loss of pay. In November 2024, Eve submitted a request to the union's Extended Sick Leave Fund Committee. They approved the request. **Boston Public Library denied it.** On Tuesday, January 14, members from PSA and AFSCME 1526--who represent library assistants, clerical, and mechanical personnel at the Boston Public Library--delivered a petition to President David Leonard and the Board of Trustees signed by over 200 staff members demanding Eve be granted her requested hours from the sick bank. We received no response. Denying her time from the sick bank will not make Eve's illness go way. It will not make her need any less time off for doctor's appointment, treatments, or days where she simply cannot get out of bed. It will just make sure that while she is worrying about eventually dying of cancer, she'll also have to worry about paying rent. USB 10/100/1000 LAN self-assigned IP orange dot
Hi! I am trying to set up the internet in my room a couple days now. I can only have ethernet. I have the router plugged in the electric socket, the cable connected from the router to the usb-C adapter to my mac. I don’t have access to the internet. The router gives me an error message. There is no response from the remote server. And I should contact my ISP for help. My ISP is for shit, and I can’t even find them most of the times. I have set up the wireless connection (although, again, I shouldn’t have wireless according to the uni) and it is not working, as expected, although I have connected to it and it has a green dot. I don’t have access to the internet. Then, I go to my network settings and it shows me there is a usb 10/100/1000 lan connected and has a self-assigned IP. I am assuming that is the ethernet cable. I am also adding the details. * using dhcp * ip address different than the routers’ ip address * subnet mask also different from the routers’ address * under the subnet mask, it says router : router * configure ipv6 is automatic * it says there are no dns servers * hardware: automatic configuration ———- I tried rebooting the router and the laptop. i have reset to factory defaults. i have unplugged and plugged all the plugs. Future pc build for engineering student
Like the title says, I'm a second year aerospace engineering student who will soon be doing lots and lots of CAD and other computer simulation work(Autodesk, Solidworks, Matlab, etc.). I currently have a Macbook Pro and since this will not be suitable for the near and far future I have decided to build my own pc. Since I will be doing heavy CAD work and similar applications what should I focus on? Should I go to Solidworks or Autodesk and view their recommended specs and build off of that? I also want to game but I do not need to play at 1000 fps and 1440p. 1080p and decent fps for big games would be nice. Should I build for gaming and that will take care of CAD or the other way around?twitching
Hello I have twitching in head above and maybe little behind ear for 3 months now. Its not every day but this driving me insane. Is it better for me to replace the windshield now, or wait for the Feb 5th deadline to pass? I'm really struggling at the moment with my final 2 cycles of chemotherapy being delayed slightly. It's kind of the last straw really. I turned 40 in September but the 2 things I'd arranged to celebrate both ended up being cancelled because of going through cancer treatment so it passed like any other day really. Then Christmas was affected too, now with this delay I'm starting to worry I won't have recovered fully from the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy by the time we get married in September. The only thing keeping my brain distracted is pretty much the good omens fandom and the fics. The only positive from the delay in chemo is that I'll definitely be well enough to go watch macbeth in the cinema on Wednesday as I have had a massive crush on David Tennant for 20 years! Good Omens has also changed my feelings about Michael Sheen, I always thought he was a fantastic actor but now the crush is real! Sorry for the rant I just don't have anyone to talk to about things"> YAYY!!!!!
